EAR BEADING

Ear Beads & Auriculotherapy
Ear Bead & Press Tacks
There are hundreds of acupuncture points in the ear that represent a microsystem of the whole body, with points treating both physical and emotional conditions. The beads stimulate the points naturally and non-invasively. Ear beads are stainless steel and for single-use. The clear tape is latex free. Ear beads are made from different material than ear seeds from the vaccaria plant.
Ear bead & tack care
You may apply gentle pressure or stimulation to the area several times a day. You can wash your hair, face, body, and ears as normal. The area with a bead or tack may be slightly tender for a day after the application, but it will subside.
How long will ear beads & tacks stay in?
One day to two weeks. They may fall off sooner, depending on where they've been placed. If one falls off, no need to worry! You will still receive benefits from the other beads or tacks that are in.
When will I start to see changes?
The beads and tacks cause 24/hour stimulation to the acupressure points, so the affects may be noticed hours or several days after application.
How to remove ear beads & tacks?
Ear beads & tacks can be removed with your fingernail, q-tip or tweezers. Typically they will fall off in the shower or when brushing hair. After removing the beads allow the skin to rejuvenate for 8-24 hours before replacement. We will replace the beads or tacks at your next appointment or you can schedule a time to get them replaced in between your appointments.
Any side-effects or contraindications?
If skin irritation occurs from the ear beads or tacks, or if swelling should occur, remove them immediately. If the condition persists, contact your doctor. If the bead causes you a headache, remove the ear bead.
Sometimes when a point is "active" it will make the ear or body part feel a little sore. This is normal. If discomfort persists you can remove the ear bead or tack. It is very rare to have a bead fall into the ear canal. If you are concerned about the beads falling into the ear canal, I would recommend removing the ear beads 5 days after application. If you think a bead fell in the ear canal, please contact us and then your doctor.
