How Can Cosmetic Acupuncture Help Me?
Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years and although relatively new to the West, the Chinese have been using points on the face to combat the signs of aging and to help with various skin conditions for many years. It was in use as early as the Song Dynasty (960AD - 1279AD).
Studies published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture in 1996 showed that of 300 people who received Facial Acupuncture, 90% demonstrated marked results after only their first treatment.
Unlike BOTOX®, or surgery, which carry a large number of possible side effects, Cosmetic Acupuncture is a totally natural and holistic anti-ageing treatment. It aims to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and works on lifting the face, particularly where the face begins to sag around the 'jowls' and the cheek area. Body acupuncture points are used as well, in order to improve overall health.
Cosmetic Acupuncture, in contrast to BOTOX® or surgery, will require a course of treatment (usually 10) to show pronounced results. However, as both the face and body are treated with acupuncture, a patient's health and wellbeing can be greatly improved by undertaking this series of treatments. Facial patients often report that they feel healthier, sleep better, have brighter eyes, and feel more balanced.
The initial appointment is 90 minutes, during which the patient’s overall health and specific facial enhancement goals will be discussed. The patient will then receive a treatment. Follow-up appointments are 60 minutes, and support the goals discussed in the initial appointment.
Facial acupuncture needles are much smaller than other acupuncture needles, and the needles used for wrinkles are either 3mm or 6mm in length, and are very fine.
Description of services offered
Reiki (pronounced RAY-KEY, imagine the rays of universal energy as the key to health) is a Japanese healing art. It uses divine healing energy channeled through the hands of the practitioner to help the body relax and heal itself. The practitioner may or may not use touch, depending on the needs of the patient. This is a very powerful yet gentle healing modality.
Reiki Acupuncture adds therapeutic Japanese Reiki to healing Chinese Acupuncture for a dynamic yet restorative treatment. The needles used for this special acupuncture technique are very small, approximately 1/16th of an inch.
Facial Acupuncture with Reiki is a relaxing yet vibrant facial treatment. It allows each person’s natural beauty to shine.
Derma-Roller® is a device which has micro needles. By passing it delicately over the facial skin it encourages skin repair, collagen production, and cell regeneration.
Jade or Quartz rollers massage the face to enhance skin elasticity, tightening and toning facial muscles. They help decrease puffiness and under-eye circles, and assist in minimizing the look of fine lines.
